Pop-up Windows or pop-ups are the Windows that appear automatically without the user’s permission. The size of these Windows can vary, but usually does not cover the whole screen. Some pop-ups are made exclusively for serving as ads, but others try to attack the privacy of the user. When a pop-up appears on the screen, a small code is inserted into the screen that by loading and displaying can affect the system as a whole. Firefox allows the users to control the pop-up through the content panel in the options Window. The pop-up blocker is turned on in Firefox by default. Many people have problems with the pop-up from Internet browsers as the users do not know how and when to turn on and off these as needed. Firefox has enabled the feature of pop-up blocker in order to avoid the pop-up advertisements without the consent of the user. This in turn provides security to the system from unknown threats. But at times many download sites and web applications require to pop-up a new Window in order to complete the task. In such cases, the user can manually disable the pop-up blocker feature.
For disabling the feature of pop-up blocker in Firefox, go to the tools menu and click on ‘Options’ followed by the content panel. To disable all the pop-up blockers, uncheck the ‘Block pop-up Window’ box. In order to disable the pop-up blocker for a given set of websites, click on the ‘Exceptions’ and enter the URL of the websites whose pop-up need not be blocked. Close the Window and click ‘OK’.
