Safari® Keeps Closing Unexpectedly
What are the problems due to which Safari browser would close unexpectedly? How to fix the issues?Safari is a web browser developed by Apple Inc. written in C++ and objective-C. It can be installed in operating systems such as Mac OS X 10.4.11, Mac OS X 10.5.8, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and iOS with Webkit engine. It can be used in iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod Touch, and PC. It is the fastest browser available. It also provides more security and privacy. Despite all these, Safari browser can sometimes close unexpectedly. This is mainly because of its incompatibility with the software installed in the computer. Another reason is incorrect settings due to which Safari closes on its own. If there is any error in the registry where the essential information of the system is stored, there is a chance of unexpected closing. Also, if there is any problem in stored browsing data or a corrupted cache, the safari browser may crash.
Some of the ways to fix this problem are:
- Clear the Safari Cache
- Restart and re-enter Safari preferences
- Download newer version of Safari
Clear the Safari CacheOpen a new Safari window and visit different websites like Google that load easily. Examine the response of different browsers by going in different websites. After that, shut down Safari completely and restart it. Now clear the cache history. For that click on the 'Safari' menu and select 'Empty cache' option. A prompt will ask for your confirmation from where you'll click 'Empty'. Again click on the 'Safari' menu and select 'Preferences' and from the security tab select 'Bookmarks'. Then click on 'Show cookies' and then on 'Remove'. This will clear the cache in Safari browser.
Restart and re-enter Safari preferencesClearing of cache will remove all the corrupted settings and data in your browser. Now restart your computer. This will usually unravel the problems because when the system shuts down, operating system does some housekeeping tasks. If the system is kept on, shut down, and restart it from time to time. Now the system is ready to accept newer settings.
Download newer version of SafariAnother way to fix the issue is to install the latest version of Safari. In the Safari browser, pick out ‘Software Update from Apple Icon' in the top-menu bar. This will give information about the latest version of Safari available for download and if there is an update at hand, download it from the Apple site. After downloading, double-click the downloaded file and follow the installation process to install it in the computer.
