Developer: Citrix Systems
Operating System: Chrome OS
Citrix Receiver was first launched in January 2010, becoming the first universal client for virtual IT service delivery. It supports many platforms like Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and BlackBerry, be it on a tablet or a on a smartphone. And now, Citrix has come up with the Technology Preview version of its first receiver app for Chrome OS, the Citrix Receiver Tech Preview App.
With this app installed, you can get access to all your corporate data, applications and desktops from any location, be it home, office or elsewhere. Provided that your company hosts applications on Citrix platform, all you need to do is access your data by logging in using your mycitrix login. Moreover, to make the user experience consistent across all the devices, Citrix Systems has ensured that the user interface of the Citrix Receiver Tech Preview app is coherent with the latest versions of all receivers available today.
Free download for Citrix Receiver Tech Preview app is available from Chrome Webstore. Once downloaded, you may need to ask your IT admin for the URL to set up the app. This app does not support Chrome on Windows or Mac platform.
Some of the notable highlights of this app are:
• Access your Windows desktop documents and applications on the go
• Store information on your provider’s secure server in place of the device
• Ease of mobility from desktop to tablet and smartphone
This release by Citrix Systems is expected to increase Chromebook user base since Google so far has been providing limited functionality and features on it. The app information was shared at Google I/O in May 2010, yet it has only launched now.
